Hello from Malaysia,
Greta site. Hope to get some tips on info not available over here.
Been riding the Tmax since Feb 2002 and find its a great scooter. My first scooter was a Piaggio 180 two stroke. I also had the Helix for a while. That was followed swiftly by the Majesty, a 1997 model. But the Tmax is a scooter wet dream.
Initially was very happy with the Tmax as it can scratch quite well but i found that the brakes were not so good ( single disc on a 200kg machine with no engine braking ) and the ground clearance sucks. The brakes faded on me twice after spirited riding on my favorite mountain roads so after that the Tmax was relegated to touring and commuting duties.
I put a modified Doken roof on the Tmax and its the best thing I've done. I also installed an Arrow pipe on it for a bit of extra go.
My Tmax.
My other ride.
Three days ago i bought the Fouco, and i cannot find much owner info on the bike. I'll post my personal impression on this scooter ( and the inevitable comparo with the Tmax ) in time and hope to get more info from this forum.
My Fuoco.
Best Regards |

Welcome.
Didn't much like the idea of a roof on a TMax at first. Then I remembered the time I spend in Singapore and the really heavy rains and storms. Yes! I can see why you'd fit a roof!!
Nice pics, hopefully there will be a fuoco rider along so you can get any info you need. |

Derek, TQ.
I've already covered 500km + on the bike so its still running-in. Compared to the Tmax the Fuoco has significantly less power especially above 100kn/h. Are ther variators and any other hot up bits for the bike available. It needs more GO badly.
The rear end is also not as good as the Tmax ( due to the swinging engine), are there aftermarket suspension for the bike ? White power or Ohlins comes to mind.
I suppose Givi and the like will be making a rear box and front screen for it. Any available in the market?
Do you scrape the mainstand tangs easily? Mine is all ground away even after 150km of spirited riding.

| Hi and welcome from me. I have an MP3 400 and know at least two other Fuoco owners including Derek (see above) who use their bikes on long and 'active' rides. |

| Hi and welcome, I notice that the registration number WJX 710 appears on the T MAx and Fuoco is that normal for Malaysia? |

JCosta do a variator that I can confirm really gives the Fugly more get up and go from a standstill but still leaves the top end the same.
Gilera and Givi both do screens and you really need one if you intend to do any long journeys at speed.
The mainstand is very easy to grind away but I'm trying to save mine.
Not heard anything about improved suspension components yet.
I've fitted a Givi E45 Simply and rack and again it's needed as underseat storage is not good.
I've also adapted the lights so that all four are lit when on main beam, replaced the underseat bulb for an LED, Stebl air horn and extra power socket on the dash.
I'll try and put some pictures up tomorrow if I can be bothered after getting the 6k service and new hoops fitted. |

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Bob- sharp eyes. I transferred the number plate from the Tmax to the Fuoco and will be getting a new one for my Tmax. The Tmax pix was taken some time ago.
Johnp- its not that bad and besides the roof really makes the Tmax more functional in Malaysian weather; keeps me dry in a downpour, shades me from the 35 degree sun and shields me from the raod grime. Here's a side profile;
Derek - Thanks for the input. I was thinking of getting a variator kit that matches an aftermarket exhaust system. The Arrow pipes I bought for the Tmax came with a set of counterweight whic I assume wil make the changed power characteristic work better.
The screen is a real good idea as my maiden 'high' speed ride on the Fugly was a totally windswept affair.
I tried saving the stand but to do so at 'fun' lean angles requires me to hang off and end up looking like a prat.
The rear end really needs help with all the unsprung weight, and the backend moves around quite a bit while the front end is so planted.
My dream scooter is one with a Fugly front end and a Tmax rear end setup and engine powering it. That would be wicked.
Best Regards |

I do have more than a few cars. But I do want the mobility of a bike in traffic jams along with some form of weather protection. I have thought of the Ecomobile but it cannot filter and there is a waiting list for it. Its also fairly expensive.
The roofed Tmax wil do for me. |

John if you'd ever been to Malaysia, you'd appreciate it doesn't just rain there. It's a deluge, they don't have drains to cope with the amount of water they have storm drains.
So if the roof works for him - don't knock it mate. However, it wouldn't look right over here at all. |

Rain gear, no matter how good will not keep a rider entirely dry with the kind of deluge over here. Besides, good rain gear will occupy half of the Tmax storage capacity. |
